The Role of Chiropractic in a Wellness Routine

Episode Notes:

In this episode of the Pravo Wellness podcast, Dr. Grbich tackles one of the most common questions he hears: how does chiropractic care actually fit into a healthy lifestyle?

Rather than viewing chiropractic as a last resort for pain relief, Dr. Grbich makes the case for integrating it as a proactive part of your overall wellness routine.

If you’ve ever wondered whether chiropractic is only for back pain emergencies, this episode will change the way you think about your long-term health strategy.

Hey everyone, welcome back. I’m Doctor Grbich, and you’re listening to the Pravo Wellness podcast, coming to you from right here in Menomonee Falls. Today I want to talk about something I get asked about pretty often — and that’s how chiropractic care actually fits into a healthy lifestyle. Not just what we do when something hurts, but how it plays a role in your overall wellness routine. So if you’ve ever wondered whether chiropractic is just for back pain emergencies, stick around — because I think this is going to shift the way you look at it.

Here’s the thing. Most people come through our doors for the first time because something hurts. A stiff neck, low back pain, a headache that won’t quit. And that’s completely fine — that’s actually how a lot of great health journeys get started. But what I want you to understand is that chiropractic care has a much bigger role to play than just putting out fires.

Think about it this way. You don’t go to the dentist only when your tooth is throbbing, right? You go in for regular cleanings, checkups — because you know that keeping up with things prevents bigger problems down the road. Your spine deserves that same kind of attention. It’s the foundation of your nervous system. Every signal your brain sends to your body travels through that spine. When things are moving well and aligned properly, your body simply works better.

Now, here’s what I want you to really take in. Your spine goes through a lot on a daily basis. Sitting at a desk for hours, looking down at your phone, carrying kids, exercising, sleeping in awkward positions — all of that adds up over time. Small misalignments, what we call subluxations, can build up gradually. You might not feel them right away. But over weeks and months, that tension and restriction in your spine can start affecting how you feel, how you move, and even how well you recover from stress.

That’s where regular chiropractic care comes in as part of a wellness routine. It’s not about being in constant treatment. It’s about maintenance. Staying ahead of things. When your spine is moving the way it should, your muscles aren’t working as hard to compensate. Your posture improves. You tend to sleep better. A lot of my patients tell me they feel less tense overall and have more energy. And honestly, that makes complete sense — because when your nervous system isn’t being irritated by restrictions in the spine, your whole body can function closer to its potential.

So what does that actually look like in practice? For some people, it’s a visit once a month. For others, maybe every few weeks — especially if they’re more active or have a physically demanding job. It’s not one size fits all. We figure that out together based on what your body needs and what your goals are.

Now, let me give you a few things you can start doing today to support your spinal health between visits. First — move more. Seriously, sitting is one of the biggest stressors on your spine. If you work at a desk, set a reminder to get up and walk around for a couple minutes every hour. Second — pay attention to your posture, especially when you’re on your phone. Try to bring the phone up to eye level instead of dropping your chin down to meet it. That forward head position puts a tremendous amount of extra load on your neck. And third — stay hydrated. The discs between your vertebrae are made largely of water, and they need that hydration to stay healthy and cushioned.

Small habits, done consistently — that’s where the real change happens.

Now, if you haven’t been in to see us in a while, or if you’ve never been evaluated by a chiropractor before, I really do encourage you to come in. Even if you’re not in pain right now. A spinal evaluation can tell us a lot about what’s going on beneath the surface and help us put together a plan that actually fits your life.
